Eagles Card of the Day

Eddie Bell
Eddie first gained nation-wide attention with 2 great plays against Notre Dame in 1952. He caught a pass for the only Penn score of the day and made an 'impossible' tackle, catching an Irish ball carrier headed for a score. After 2 years in the Army, Eddie joined the Eagles in '55 and became a standout defensive end. His ability to figure out a play and stop it in its tracks makes him one of the most exciting players in the League.

Name that player!

Floyd joined the Eagles in a '64 off-season trade with the Lions. Cleveland signed him as a free agent in '59 after being cut by Baltimore in '58.

A true outside corner with an elite blend of size (6-foot-2, 190 pounds), speed and ball skills, Ricks transferred from LSU to Alabama in 2022. In his lone season with the Crimson Tide, the defensive back drew 307 snaps and flashed the stickiness and ability to recover that made him a coveted transfer.

The drop kick - Best method as used by great field goal kickers like Dutch Clark of the Philadelphia Eagles, (former Colo- rado College star, is to stand 10 to 12 yards immediately behind your centre. Stand easily with weight on right kicking foot). Take time to set your defensive backs to meet the threat of incoming blockers. Line up the spot where you will drop the ball on the ground with the goal posts. Keep this kicking angle in your mind's eye, receive the ball, adjust it in your hands so the point, lace goalward, falls vertically to the ground, and bring the toe of your boot against it. Dutch Clark, All American Quarterback, 1929, All National League Quarterback, 1932, Colorado College. 6 ft. tall, weighs 185 pounds.
