The 1956-57 season was in many respects, another big year in Doug Harvey's NHL carreer. Selected as winner of the Norris Trophy for the third year and to the First All Star Team for the sixth straight year, he also broke his own record for most assists by a defenceman in a season, scoring 44. It is interesting to note that never before in the history of the All Stars, has any defenceman made the First Team six consecutive years.
Shayne was one of four Canadiens represented in the 1998 Olympic Games in Nagano, Japan. In the 1999-2000 season, Shayne's first goal of the season was the opening score in a 4-2 win over Atlanta on Nov. 13, 1999.
It took Tom nine years to attain All Star rating and he did it mainly because he got a chance to pick up points playing in Doug Harvey's normal spot on the Power Play.
