Name that player!

Nicknamed "The Old Lamp Lighter", Blake was a great left winger for 13 years in the N.H.L. Since becoming Coach of Canadiens in 1955-56 his team has finished first 8 times and won the Stanley Cup 7 times including a record of 5 consecutive years!

Johnson's play in the finals last year with an injured knee is typical of the Johnson spirit and determination, ingredients which have mode him Canadiens most dependable defensive stalwart through the last half dozen seasons. He locks Doug Harvey's flair and is less effective offensively, but behind his own blueline, there is no steadier performer game in and game out. To Canadien officials one of the wonders of the one is that Johnson has only once gained All Star recognition in his eight seasons in the League, that in 1955-56 on the 2nd team.

Tom Johnson could be considered something of a "throwback" blueline. Tom's forte is his defensive soundness, his behind the blueline generalship. There are some who feel Tom could be a top two-way rearguard if he possessed a harder, more accurate shot - but Johnson apparently realizes his chances for success lie in defending his own end of the rink and that's where he can usually be found.
