Canadiens Card of the Day

Terry Harper
Rangy rookie with an aggressive flair, Terry provided backbone on defense. He is heads-up youngster, stiff checker, and his 149 minutes in penalties suggests he backs away from no one. Terry was picked as 2nd all-star in Eastern Pro League.

Name that player!

Johnson's play in the finals last year with an injured knee is typical of the Johnson spirit and determination, ingredients which have mode him Canadiens most dependable defensive stalwart through the last half dozen seasons. He locks Doug Harvey's flair and is less effective offensively, but behind his own blueline, there is no steadier performer game in and game out. To Canadien officials one of the wonders of the one is that Johnson has only once gained All Star recognition in his eight seasons in the League, that in 1955-56 on the 2nd team.

Steady improvement is a rather obvious sign of progress and for Andre Pronovost the records show he's moving up the hockey ladder. Two years ago the speedy winger rapped in 10 goals in his first taste of NHL play and upped that mark to 16 in 1957-58. Toe Blake is convinced he'll be a 20 goal scorer this year, because he has looked more mature, more confident and more experienced through the training camp of 1958. Last year with Phil Goyette and Claude Provost as his linemates Andre helped give Canadiens even greater balance than in the years before.)

LeClair concluded his college career at the University of Vermont by being named to the 1991 ECAC Second All-Star Team. LeClair, who turned pro with Montreal at the end of 1990-91, appeared in both the Stanley Cup and AHL playoffs the following season.

Butch Bouchard
Butch is now in his 14th year of NHL competition, and is still a power on the Canadien defense. In the 3rd game of the semi-finals last year, Bouchard got 2 goals and became the all-time playoff point producer among defensemen with 31 points garnered through 92 playoff contests. Butch spends most of the summer at his restaurant-cafe the "Chez Butch Bouchard."
