In addition to playing briefly with Tampa Bay in '96-97, Derek was the No. 1 goaltender for the Cleveland Lumberjacks of the International Hockey League. In 46 games, he registered a 3.19 goals-against average. In 14 playoff games, he had a 2.95 goals-against average. Before turning pro, Derek played in the Ontario Hockey League with Detroit and Belleville.

Brad Richards
Brad, a magician with the puck, often makes the rubber disappear. In the QMJHL in 1999-2000, he tallied 71 goals and 186 points. In '02-03, he tied for the Bolts lead with 57 assists and the NHL lead with 34 power play feeds. Once he tallied points in 14 of 15 games. Richards also scored one of the most memorable Lightning goals of the year, when his third period tally on January 7 beat the reigning champion Red Wings, 1-0.
