Only two other active goaltenders have won as many pro trophies as Denis DeJordy. Denis shared the Vezina Trophy in 1966-67. He was rookie of the year in the old EPHL and starred for Buffalo in the AHL. The Hawks gave up Roger Crozier, with Denis waiting in the wings.
Periodic injuries have dimmed his potentially brilliant career. Sold by Canadiens in summer.
A native of Trebic, Czech Republic, Martin scored 56 goals and 109 points in 81 games on the ZPS Zlin-Jr. squad before coming to North America in 1999 to play for Saskatoon (WHL). After two years in Canadian juniors, he earned a spot on the Predators' 2001-02 opening night roster and clicked immediately with Vladimir Orszagh and Denis Arkhipov. Erat notched his first NHL point on October 11, 2001, when he (and Arkhipov) set up Orszagh's GWG in a dramatic 1-0 victory over a tough Calgary squad.
