Willie Mays is the lone player to amass more hits or total bases in a Giants uniform than Mel, who spent his entire 22-year career with the franchise. A six-time NL home run champion, Ott was selected for 12 straight Midsummer Classics starting in 1934.



In 56 games in 1950. Got 15 hits and drove in 8 runs. Batted .278 in 122 games in 1949. Spent 5 years in the minors, beginning with Spokane, Western International League, 1938. Three years of military service intervened before Bill arrived with Giants. On 1948 NL All-Star team. A player who is willing to step into any place where he is needed and give his best.



Ward Taylor Miller, outfielder of the St. Louis Federal League team, was born in Mt. Carroll, Ill., July 5, 1885. He played his first professional engagement in 1906 with Waterloo in the Three Eye League. The next year he was at Madison, in the Wisconsin-Illinois League, and in 1908 he played with Wausau in the same league. Miller was then drafted by Cincinnati. After two seasons with Cincinnati he was released to Montreal in 1911. He went to Chicago from Montreal and played with the Cubs until 1914, when he signed with the Federals.
