Name that player!

Wearing the Giants' uniform for the first time in 1950, Al played in all of their games. Batted .279, driving in 67 runs. Slammed out 36 doubles, 5 triples, 16 homers. Took part in some snappy fielding plays. Al's major league career began with the Braves in 1948. Hit .322. Was named the National League Rookie of Year. Attended LSU and Southwestern Louisiana Institute. All-round athlete.

The last of the Alou Brothers playing with the Giants, Jesus has shown startling improvement at the plate in each of his three big league campaigns. He led the P.C.L. in base hits in 1963.

The Texan is one of the best fielders around. However, he suffers with a bad back, and never knows when it will start paining. Consequently, he is a bit of a question mark in the Giant infield. When he is good he is very, very good. The Giants spent $65,000 on Davey, purchasing him from Atlanta after the 1948 season. He spent two years at Minneapolis, then came to New York. He's a good lead-off man.

Back to the Front! Giants card back du jour...

Jim Hart
The powerful righthand batter has solved San Francisco's third base problems. An exceptionally fine fielder, Jim also carries a potent bat. He tied Willie Mays for the club leadership of total base hits in 1965 and was second to him in runs batted in.
